Writer's Brick Contest

What is Writer's Brick?
Do you want to motivate kids to be excited about writing? Writer's brick gives you a piece of a short story and rewards students for completing the the story. Each month you can build on a writing prompt published by Fun with Jay and Harm.  The writing prompt may include a small piece of the story, describe key characters, or list other criteria that your story must include.

MAY 2018 WRITING PROMPT VIDEO

May 1, 2018. I was on the open ocean searching the seven seas for treasure and new mateys. A storm came up suddenly which tore my ship in two and threw me into the sea. Naturally my wooden leg kept me afloat until I reached an island. As parts of my ship came floating ashore I wasted no time in exploring the island and realized that I was stranded on this small island. If I was going to live here I would need shelter so I set to work building what I could from the pieces of ship that washed ashore. I finished my shelter just as night fell and was asleep in no time.
May 2, 2018 I awoke and to my surprise there on the beach I found _____________________________.
You finish the story. What did Pirate Bob Eyeball find? How did he use it?
Try writing your story in first person. (Optional for younger participants).
